The Two Strategies

Nursing portfolios are essential since they provide evidence of one’s achievement. As a result, I have ensured that I have a virtual portfolio that helps me update on my achievement easily compared to a hard copy portfolio (Hannans & Olivo, 2017). As part of my academic portfolio, my aim is towards becoming a certified nurse, which adds up as a long-term goal. According to East (2015), certified nurses have greater opportunities for employment since most nursing departments seek services from such nursing categories. Generally, nursing certification provides the nurses with professional credibility and specialized knowledge validation, thus becoming more beneficial to organizations in bringing out patients’ service satisfaction and better treatment outcomes. Also, through nursing certification, the employees pose higher clinical competence levels, which attract greater salaries to help the nurses help their families. With such assurance, I will gain many benefits as I articulate my nursing practices since being a certified nurse will also help me gain trust and confidence from other colleagues in my different workplaces in the future. Additionally, I believe that being a certified nurse, I will manage to effectively guide interns and offer them advice on becoming reliable nursing professionals.

The other strategy that will boost my academic portfolio concerns registered nurse competencies. I have been in various practicums, which have proved that I have various nursing competencies such as critical thinking and leadership qualities. Hence, I have learned about my weaknesses and strengths through the practicums, which I have to work on before I graduate. For instance, I have realized that I have leadership characteristics that will enable me to manage employees from different inter-professionalism. It concerns the fact that I have realized the essential nature of involving transformational leadership, which allows one as a leader to create a fair environment when interacting with employees. As a result, I will find easier time interacting and managing the employees towards better patient outcomes and treatment.

How the Goals Align With the University Emphasis

The main goal of Walden University concerns social change practices at a global level. Hence, considering that my strategies aim to improve the lives of my patients, colleagues, and family, the University’s vision will help me expand my knowledge, especially on interaction at a global scale. As a result, through Walden University, my portfolio will reflect social changes in my nursing practice, such as embracing diversity as I continue increasing my clinical experiences.

Conclusion

Hence, by carefully implementing my nursing portfolio, I will portray my professional growth and academic achievements. Also, focusing on Walden University’s vision on global change will greatly impact my portfolio that will help me steer positive social change even at a global level.

Such an activity can help share the results of your efforts and contribute to your success. This Module’s Discussion asks you to consider and share strategies for building your portfolio.
