There are notable differences between a traditional faculty APRN/NP role and an online faculty role. First is the time factor, as traditional faculty APRN/NP is in physical contact with their students and is thus able to get real-time feedback on any subject. Though an online faculty APRN/NP gets the feedback at the end of the process, the feedback is not real-time, as the students respond to any issue at their convenience (Dumphy et al., 2019). Moreover, traditional faculty APRN/NP teaching is mostly physical, and students are taught hands-on techniques in their physical classrooms. In contrast, online faculty APRN/NP teaching is conducted through online platforms, and communication is achieved through emails or discussion forums.
The expectations differ for the traditional faculty APRN/NP and online faculty roles. In the traditional faculty APRN/NP role, the nurse educator can guide the students effectively through practical demonstrations because of the face-to-face interactions. Furthermore, the nurse educator and the students are expected to have access to physical resources such as textbooks for making references. In contrast, a nurse educator in online faculty APRN/NP role teaches students through online platforms. Resources are also mostly obtained online.
To succeed in a traditional faculty APRN/NP role, the nurse educator should have effective communication skills to fully engage the students in the process and respond to any questions. Besides, the nurse educator should also have a high level of teaching skills to effectively demonstrate clinical practical knowledge to the students. In contrast, the nurse educator in online faculty is expected to possess high technological skills since the teaching is mostly online (Dumphy et al., 2019). Besides, the nurse educator should know how to engage students online effectively by encouraging active participation so they are not bored.

There are various nurse educator competencies outlined in the National League for Nursing. However, the competency of interest is to facilitate learners’ development and socialization (Fitzgerald et al., 2020). Students are future healthcare practitioners and should be correctly-natured to give their best in clinical settings. Correct use of appropriate channels and providing students with appropriate resources will enable the students to acquire the necessary knowledge needed in the nursing field. The aim of facilitating learners’ development and socialization is so that the nurse educator can tailor the teachings according to the needs of the students and teach the students how to learn the various concepts of the profession.
As a nurse educator, I will actively involve the students in the learning process through encouraging the students to communicate freely without fear of making mistakes. Besides, I will guide the students appropriately by providing effective and immediate feedback to the questions raised. I will ensure the communication is bilateral so they do not feel inferior. Furthermore, I will ensure that all learners grasp the concept taught in the classroom. Special assistance will be provided to those students who may have difficulty understanding one or more concepts (Fitzgerald et al., 2020).
I would also ensure my students are well-mannered by setting a positive example. Students learn best through observation. Therefore, they are more likely to be influenced by the conduct of their tutor. Good mannerisms will help the students in their professional field deal with patients from different varieties (Keating et al., 2021). Besides conducting myself with dignity, I will also encourage socialization in the students by encouraging connection to each other and sharing problems affecting them with their peers. The connection can be through exposing the students tohospital settings where they can interact with healthcare professionals.
