Strengths
This article clearly identified its objectives, used qualitative research methods, identified the conceptual framework, and provided the length of the study. The design used was appropriate for health sciences and the data collected was non numerical, (Bhandari,2023). Reflexivity was evident as the researchers met weekly to discuss the coding of the data and resolve disagreements. The focus groups were identified, group size varied, and data triangulated on multiple levels. Data collection discontinued once saturation was achieved. NVivo software coded the data. The research consisted of a variety of key stakeholders from diverse settings. The data analysis strategy was compatible with the research tradition. The findings appeared to be trustworthy, and the authors effectively summarized the results with strong supporting evidence.
Weaknesses
Focus groups were selected from one healthcare system, thus limiting generalization of information obtained to other institutions.
The findings were in acute care settings and may not apply to non-acute settings. The researchers limited methods of data collection.
Although this data seemed reliable, this type of study can be impacted by personal bias of the researchers.
