You will then create a narrative of this encounter leaving all identifying information out of your narrative to protect patient privacy. Identify key findings from your interview, both positive/strengths of that family unit and areas where risk reduction (focused on genetics, age, biological background, personal health/habits/lifestyle, environment) may be needed. For information on the family assessment please refer to Chapter 26 pages 585-598 in your textbook.

Finally create a genogram and an ecomap based on the information you gathered within your interview. Remember the genogram should display family information graphically over 3 or more generations, including family relationships and health patterns. The ecomap illustrates the relationships within and outside of the family and should be a visual representation of the narrative.
