Assessment 2: Evidence and Resources Credibility
Assessment 2: Evidence and Resources Credibility
The involvement of evidence-based practice in any research requires the researchers to select well-researched materials related to a given option. Hence, when evaluating the effects, diagnosis, and treatment of pneumonia, particularly community-acquired pneumonia, which is more common in the United States, it is always essential to ensure that EBP research is applied to assess the disease’s treatment gold standard. That way, it will be easier to ensure that patients receive high-quality and safe treatment. Hence the paper will address resources and evidence credibility, including the most appropriate model to address pneumonia.

Diagnosis Description
The new healthcare provider assigned a patient exhibiting productive cough and acute chest pain who faced difficulties diagnosing the patient. Considering that clinical diagnosis improves with time, it also varies depending on the clinical practice setting (Tucker et al., 2021). Hence, there would be a need for the new healthcare provider to engage in EBP to ensure that adequate and proper criterion is involved in the diagnostic process. For that case, the identified literature databases include Cochrane library, CINAHL, the NHS website, and the Nursing and Allied Health database.
Literature Search
During the literature research, key terms of entry involvement included pneumonia protocols, pneumonia guidelines, and pneumonia diagnosis. Also, the Boolean operators “AND” and “OR” enhanced the search criteria. Also, to ensure that up-to-date materials were part of the research, an article filter was necessary that helped in filtering articles using their publication date, making the inclusion criteria incorporate articles published within five years, from 2019-2023. The article’s selection depended on the topic’s relevance to pneumonia diagnosis.
Credibility Criteria for Journals and Resources
The identified four sources were Cao et al. (2022), Ebrahimzadeh et al. (2022), Chen et al. (2022), and De-Blasio et al. (2020) where; their full references have been provided within the paper’s references section. In assessing the article’s credibility, the research ensured that all the articles were derived from renowned scholarly and nursing databases. For reliability, the articles identified from Cochrane Library and CINAHL were peer-reviewed, thus proving their credibility and reliability depending on peer reviewers. For sources identified from the NHS website and the Nursing and Allied Health database, their credibility lies in providing a full article that helps the researcher assess all provided information to determine its credibility.
The Evidence-Based Practice Model
Healthcare providers must incorporate credible evidence in their research to ensure that the information derived from these articles can be used in clinical practice. The study context involves a healthcare provider who wants to assess and diagnose the patient with probable pneumonia. However, she does not possess the essential EBP acumen to help identify differential diagnoses to prevent diagnosing the patient with the wrong illness. In such a case, there would be a need to incorporate the Iowa model that helps clinicians to make proper decisions during the EBP process (Tucker et al., 2021). In that case, the healthcare provider would start by identifying the prevailing issue, pneumonia, then proceed to state the research purpose that would help gain more information about the disease. The next step would be conducting systematic research to assess the reliability of the materials (Tucker et al., 2021). From the knowledge gained from such research, the healthcare provider will be prompted to integrate the findings into practice to provide quality and safe healthcare services to the patient.
Conclusion
Effective and accurate diagnosis is an essential factor that all clinicians must consider when providing patient care. For instance, the pneumonia case scenario requires the healthcare provider to ensure that she assesses the recent pneumonia guidelines, particularly to identify the appropriate diagnosis. Hence, all that was enabled by incorporating the Iowa model and ensuring that the sources were derived from scholarly databases and publications less than five years of publication, thus ensuring that they provided recent healthcare guideline information.
