- The problem is alcohol abuse, which is persistent in society affecting a significant number of young. Alcohol abuse among the youth results in physical health problems, behavioral issues, academic challenges, and a range of mental health issues including depression, suicidal ideation, depression, and personality disorders among other(NIH, 2021). Alcohol also causes erratic behaviors such as drunk driving which can lead to fatal accidents or disabling injuries.

- Underage alcohol drinking is on the rise. According to 2019 survey, 24.6% of 14- to 15-year-olds indicated that they had at least one drink in the past 12 months.
