Topic 4 Discussion Question 2: Explain how the organization communicates with external and internal stakeholders in your clinical/practicum setting Sample
There are a number of different communication methods that can be used in a clinical or practicum setting, depending on the type of information that is being shared and the audience that is receiving it. In general, however, most communication between an organization and its internal and external stakeholders will take place through written communication and verbal communication.
In my practicum setting, communication occurs between the organization and internal and external stakeholders through written, verbal, and non-verbal methods. The written form of communication can be observed in documents such as memos, reports, emails, and letters. For verbal forms of communication, these include face-to-face conversations or telephone calls. On the other hand, non-verbal communicative techniques like body language and gestures demonstrate meanings which are not as easily conveyed through purely written or verbal means (Reddy & Gupta, 2020). All three types work together to effectively convey messages within my practicum setting in order to uphold its mission and values.
Written communication approach such as memos, reports, emails, and letters works well for my practicum setting. However, there are several strategies that can be used to improve this form of communication including Use technology to streamline formal communication and continuous practicing or training of employees on how to enhance communication (Zonneveld et al., 2020). Using technology to streamline the formal communication process can reduce errors and miscommunications by making messages easier to deliver and receive quickly (Bull et al., 2020). Additionally, continuously training inexperienced employees on how to compose messages with clarity would encourage proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and ensure that the message’s purpose is fulfilled. Both these methods present several benefits for this form of communication and yield an outstanding end result. There are a number of important reasons why effective communication between healthcare organizations and their internal and external stakeholders is critical. One of the most important is that it helps to ensure that everyone has a common understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives, as well as its plans and strategies for achieving them (Naeem, 2020). This clarity of purpose is essential for all involved in order to be able to work together effectively towards common goals.
